Vernaccia di San Gimignano is the product that best promotes the San Gimignano's region. It is an indigenous grape variety grown in the province of Siena. The production of Vernaccia di San Gimignano wine takes place only within the municipality of San Gimignano. Due to this unique nature, it has been protected since 1993 by the Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin (DOCG in Italian).
La Roccaia Farm understands well the role of Vernaccia di San Gimignano in the Tuscan wine panorama. In fact, the production of its wine is extremely careful and exclusive starting with the plant itself.
At La Roccaia, grapes are exclusively hand-picked to ensure a high-quality production. Manual harvesting allows picking only the best vine grapes, which are then gently squeezed to extract the juice from their pulp in a more delicate way. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
To produce his Vernaccia di San Gimignano the oenologist Franco Ricci strictly follows the production regulations, which provide for the use of mostly Vernaccia grapes (min. 85%) plus other white berried grapes. To give more fragrant notes to his wine, Franco adds Chardonnay, Fermentino and San Colombano.

It can be said that the passion for wine is innate in the Ricci family: it all starts with grandfather Nazzareno who transmits to his son Antonio and then to his grandson Franco the love for nature and the strong bond with the territory of San Gimignano.
Therefore, the dedication to the native land leads them, over the years, to become wine producers of great brands such as Chianti and precisely, Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
But that's by no means all. Given the recent expansion of the company, Franco now also produces white and red IGT wines with the same attention he devotes to his Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a white wine of considerable value. Its main characteristics are the almond scent and aftertaste and its beautiful, straw yellow colour.
It enjoys a particular privilege and a rare claim among wines: it is one of the few that can afford the luxury of aging. With refinement, its colour intensifies with golden reflections and its perfume is enriched with mineral notes.
It is a wine that goes well with fish dishes and relatively complex white meats.
